A 9/11 Memorial at Pepperdine

For the past couple of weeks, the huge grass-covered hill in front of Pepperdine University was being prepared for some kind of display. There was a grid of thousands of small red paper markers arranged in two banks, one hugging the PCH side, the other along Malibu Canyon Road. Today, the mysterious project was revealed:

It’s hard to believe that the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon were seven years ago today. Like you, I’ll never forget that morning. It was supposed to be a happy day, as it was also our eighth wedding anniversary.

If you’re in the area, please come by and visit this memorial. I wandered through it this morning for almost an hour. I think I’ll stop by again tonight.

Thanks so much for your kind words about the memorial. Myself alongside several other individuals worked for 6 months raising funds, planning, and completing this project and we are so grateful to finally be able to pay tribute to those who lost their lives on that day. The artistic display of 2,977 flags will surely be a powerful image for years to come.
